Tottenham confirmed team vs Liverpool - Rodrigo Bentancur in, James Maddison and Richarlison subs

Ange Postecoglou has made one change to his Tottenham team for Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash against Liverpool. In action on Thursday night away at Chelsea, Spurs slipped to a third successive defeat in the league after Mauricio Pochettino's team registered a 2-0 win.

The defeat now means that Tottenham have quite the challenge on their hands if they are to join Liverpool in next season's Champions League. Following such a dismal showing at Stamford Bridge with Spurs barely laying a glove on Chelsea, Postecoglou has tinkered with his starting XI as he bids to bring an end to their recent poor run of form.

Guglielmo Vicario, as ever, starts in goal, with the head coach keeping faith with a back four of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Emerson Royal. The 58-year-old has mixed things up in midfield, however.

Starting with a midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski at Chelsea, the trio once again start but Rodrigo Bentancur comes into midfield with Kulusevski pushing into attack. James Maddison, who was dropped from the starting XI on Thursday night, remains on the bench

In attack, Postecoglou has named Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson as his front three. Mikey Moore once again retains his position on the substitutes' bench after taking his place in the matchday squad at Chelsea.

Today's game will see Jurgen Klopp take charge of his penultimate game at Anfield before departing Liverpool at the end of the campaign. Postecoglou only had praise for his counterpart when speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"He's had a massive impact," said the Australian. "I've said before that I've always been drawn to managers who are a little bit different, who play the game a bit differently and have a really clear vision and identity, and he certainly has that. It's not easy going into a big club that has traditionally had a lot of success and has then gone through a really tough spell in terms of that, and then come in and transform a club the way he did. It's a credit to him, he's an outstanding manager.

"I'm sure we'll see him back managing at the top level again because he's one of the top managers in the world. Credit to him that at such a big club he was able to imprint his style and vision and bring success."

Here is the Tottenham XI Postecoglou has named to face Liverpool:

Tottenham XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Emerson; Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr; Kulusevski, Son, Johnson.

Substitutes: Austin, Dragusin, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Maddison, Gil, Moore, Richarlison.
