Thomas Cook (India) Limited and its group company SOTC Travel have launched a new travel format, private Van Tours, to cater small groups of travellers seeking structured yet flexible holidays. The initiative comes as both companies see a steady rise in demand for short-haul international travel, driven by easier visa access and year-round travel planning by Indian consumers.

The Van Tours are designed for groups of four to twelve travellers, combining elements of group tours such as affordability and convenience with the flexibility of a personalised itinerary. The format targets families, friends, and small celebratory groups who prefer guided experiences without being bound by rigid schedules.

Each itinerary spans around seven days and covers destinations including Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Oman, the Philippines, China, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and Laos.

The package includes four-star hotel stays, an English-speaking driver-guide, and private van transportation. Prices start from ₹38,000 per person for a seven-night trip to Bali and go up to ₹3 lakh for Japan, excluding airfare and meals.

“With Indians embracing frequent and year-round travel, our Van Tours offer a perfect solution to the growing demand for convenience, affordability, and flexibility,” said Mr. Rajeev Kale, President and Country Head, Holidays, MICE, Visa at Thomas Cook (India).

He also said that travellers can personalize their journeys, extend time at attractions, and add local experiences.

“We are witnessing growing travel intent not only from metros, but also from regional India’s tier 2 and 3 markets. Families and groups of friends are value seekers – they want enriching experiences at attractive pricing, without compromising on comfort,” said Mr. S. D. Nandakumar, President and Country Head – Holidays & Corporate Tours at SOTC Travel.

The companies said the Van Tours model aligns with rising interest in small-group and private travel, a segment that gained traction post-pandemic as travellers sought safer, more personalised alternatives to large group tours.
