Actress Hina Khan has come forward with a deeply emotional and firm response to the wave of online abuse she's been enduring after expressing support for her homeland during a highly volatile time. Despite battling stage 3 breast cancer, she has remained vocal and unwavering in her patriotism — even as trolls lash out at her for speaking her truth.
In a heartfelt message posted to her Instagram Stories, Hina opened up:
“For years, I received nothing but warmth and kindness from people across the border. But after I stood with my country during and after Operation Sindoor, the atmosphere changed overnight. Many hurled insults at me, sent curses, and quietly disappeared from my followers list. Others warned me they'd unfollow me soon.”
She went on to reveal the deeply personal and cruel nature of the attacks — ones that targeted not just her views, but her health, family, and religious identity.
“I’ve been subjected to venomous hate — not just for my stance, but for my illness, my loved ones, and my spiritual beliefs. I never asked anyone to side with my country. Support your own — that’s your right. But I hoped that even in disagreement, humanity would prevail. Sadly, I was mistaken.”
But instead of backing down, Hina drew a line in the sand.
She declared, “Perhaps that’s where we differ. My identity is rooted in being Indian. That’s not something I’ll ever compromise on. If that bothers you — go ahead, unfollow me. It doesn’t matter. I haven’t spewed hate or insults. I’ve only voiced my allegiance to my nation.”
The actress then emphasized a powerful message about character and choice:
“Your words reflect your mindset. Your actions reveal your core values. And how you behave during a crisis defines the depth of your humanity. This isn’t about me anymore — it’s about who you are. As for me, my heart will always beat for my country. Jai Hind.”
This uproar began after India launched Operation Sindoor, a decisive counterstrike aimed at nine terror bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 Indian lives were lost.
Pakistan retaliated by deploying over 300 drones — reportedly Turkish Asisguard Songar models — between May 8 and 9. However, many were neutralized through a blend of missile defense systems like the S-400, Barak-8, and indigenous anti-drone technologies.
Key Indian military sites such as Srinagar Airport, Awantipora Airbase, Jammu, Nagrota, and Pathankot were among those targeted — escalating regional tensions dramatically.
