Soon, helicopter services from Gurugram to Khatu Shyam Temple: Things devotees should know

Send Push
Great news for devotees and spiritual travelers—soon, visiting Khatu Shyam Ji and Salasar Balaji from Gurugram will be faster, easier, and more comfortable than ever before. A new helicopter taxi service is set to launch, offering a much-needed alternative to the long and exhausting road journey. Here are five key things every traveler and devotee should know about this upcoming service:

A Game-Changer for Pilgrimage Travel
Traditionally, the journey from Gurugram to Khatu Shyam or Salasar Dham takes between 10 to 12 hours by road, and during peak pilgrimage seasons, this can stretch to 15 hours or more due to traffic and congestion. The new helicopter taxi service aims to cut travel time drastically, bringing it down to less than an hour. For the elderly, busy professionals, or those with health conditions, this could mean the difference between skipping a trip and making a comfortable spiritual visit.

Joint Initiative by Haryana and Rajasthan Governments

This innovative service is being introduced through a coordinated effort by both Haryana and Rajasthan’s civil aviation departments. Haryana’s Civil Aviation Minister Vipul Goel and Rajasthan’s Minister Gautam Kumar have jointly announced the plan. The two states are working together on logistics, helipad construction, and regulatory approvals to ensure a smooth and timely launch of the service.

Boost to Spiritual Tourism and Local Economy
Beyond just reducing travel stress, the helicopter taxi is expected to increase footfall at these revered temples, bringing a major boost to religious tourism. This, in turn, will benefit local businesses, including hotels, eateries, shops, and transport services. Additionally, new employment opportunities are likely to open up in aviation, ground support, and hospitality sectors around the temple towns.

Preparations in Full Swing
Several meetings have already been held to finalize the infrastructure needed to operate the helicopter routes safely and efficiently. Plans include building helipads, passenger lounges, and ensuring strict safety protocols. Authorities are also reviewing technical, financial, and commercial viability. Both ministers have emphasized the importance of seamless coordination between the two states to get the project off the ground quickly.

Interestingly, this initiative is not just a one-off project. Vipul Goel has indicated plans to expand helicopter connectivity to other key routes in the region, such as Gurugram–Chandigarh and Hisar–Chandigarh. This points to a broader vision of using air travel to overcome traffic challenges and enhance regional mobility—especially for those traveling for religious, medical, or business purposes.
