Mumbai: A suburban local train heading from Mumbai to Kasara was hit by debris from a landslide late Tuesday evening, injuring one male passenger. The incident occurred around 9:15 PM as the train was entering Platform No. 4 at Kasara station in Thane district, approximately 120 km from Mumbai CSMT.
According to Central Railway officials, the landslide took place when the third coach from the rear of Train No. N27 was passing through the affected area. A small quantity of mud and stones entered the coach through open doors, causing minor injuries to a passenger standing near the entrance, as reported by the news agency PTI.

Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, said the injured passenger was immediately given first aid by on-duty staff at the station and was later shifted to the government hospital in Kasara for further medical care.
The incident was initially reported at 20:46 hrs between Umbermali and Kasara stations. Engineering personnel promptly inspected the tracks and declared them safe for operations by 9:35 PM. Despite the landslide, there was no disruption to suburban or long-distance train services. The swift response from railway authorities ensured that the situation was brought under control quickly, and passenger movement remained unaffected.

The video, which quickly went viral, was posted by a user named 'jai ho' with the caption: "This is Mumbai’s AC local… All rainwater coming inside. For this we pay so much ??????" The user also tagged key authorities, including the Railway Ministry, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and both Central and Western Railway.
Railway Responds to Viral Video
In response, RailwaySeva, the official X (formerly Twitter) support handle for rail users, acknowledged the complaint and stated that the issue had been forwarded to the Mumbai Division of Central Railway for necessary action. Their reply included a tag to the concerned official account, confirming that the matter had been escalated for appropriate handling.
