Noel Gallagher might be gearing up for the Oasis shows in Scotland, but he's previously hit out at one of the country's biggest stars. Liamand Noel are set to rock Murrayfield with three gigs on August 8, 9, and 12, each expected to draw mammoth crowds of over 67,000.
The anticipation is palpable as thousands still hope to get their hands on a last-minute ticket, but some Scots may have their excitement dampened upon recalling Noel harsh past comments about Scotland. Despite his then-wife Sara McDonald being from Edinburgh, Noel once went so far as to label Scotland a "third world country" during an interview.
Adding to the controversy, the singer has also had a spat with one of Scotland's most loved singers, Lewis Capaldi, who is often praised for his grounded personality, witty humour, and exceptional musical gift. The feud ignited when Noel admitted on Radio X in 2019 that he was clueless about the Scottish vocalist.
At the time, Lewis's first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, had soared to number one in the UK and Ireland, becoming the year's quickest selling album.

Noel didn't mince words about the current state of music, declaring: "Music is f***ing w*** at the moment". He then took a swipe at the Glasgow-born Capaldi, asking: "Who's this Capaldi fella? Who the f***'s that idiot?" In typical Capaldi style, the Scottish singer had fans in stitches as he took to Instagram stories to mockingly celebrate Noel's disparaging remarks.
While watching the interview, Capaldi exclaimed: "F***ing c'mon! F***ing peaked – slagged off by Noel Gallagher!" He continued with glee: "Number 1 single – who gives a f**k? Number 1 album – who gives a f**k? Noel Gallagher has just slagged me off. This is dreams coming true."
Capaldi didn't hold back, cheekily wishing Gallagher a happy Father's Day while playing Oasis' 2002 anthem Stop Crying Your Heart Out. Noel quickly retorted with a tweet mocking Lewis' hit Someone You Loved.
His tweet read: "@LewisCapaldi you big daftie. You might wanna try and find some joy in your tunes, you're destroying the youth.."
Undeterred, Lewis rocked up at Glastonbury Festival donning a classic Gallagher-esque parka which he unzipped to reveal a tee emblazoned with the Oasis star's face encased in a heart.
Capaldi escalated the banter by posing for a backstage photo with Noel's formerly estranged brother and Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher. Noel, clearly irked, mentioned Lewis' antics in a Variety interview and savagely mocked the singer's looks.
The High Flying Birds frontman declared: "F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes. The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot. It's the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He's just thinking 'Wow.

"Well, I know you're Scottish and all that, but f****** hell. It is like a third world country, but for f***'s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely."
Lewis had supporters in stitches yet again when he promptly updated his Twitter handle to "Chewis Capaldi" and switched his profile image to a doctored photo showing his face superimposed onto the iconic Star Wars character's body.
Nevertheless, the duo have since buried the hatchet and have actually crossed paths on several occasions. Noel has now described Lewis as a "good lad" following all his earlier digs at the singer.
Noel and Liam have also set aside their rivalry and are presently touring across the UK as part of their Oasis Live 25 shows.
