Liverpool dog attack: Girl, 2, and boy, 3, seriously injured as police rush to scene

A two-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy have been left seriously injured after they were inside a house in .

The children, aged two and three, and an 18-year-old woman were set upon at around 4pm this afternoon on Johnson Avenue, Prescot. and North West Ambulance Service raced to the scene before the two youngsters were taken to to treat serious leg and arm injuries. said the dog was seized at the and enquiries are ongoing to establish the breed and identity of its owner. “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and the dog has been seized at the home. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the breed of the dog and identify the owner. As part of the investigation, officers remain at the scene to carry out witness and CCTV enquiries. Images taken at the scene show at least two ambulances and two police cars parked up on the residential road following the attack. Members of the public who have any information regarding this incident are being asked to DM @MerPolCC on social media or call 101, quoting log number 729 of 1st May. The attack comes just a day after police urged the public to come forward after a woman walking her dog in broad daylight suffered after she was , with her pet also requiring emergency help.

The unnamed victim was out with her border terrier when a large mastiff-type animal - which was off the lead along Cliff Parade in Hunstanton, Norfolk - launched an attack. A man and the dog left the scene after the incident, while the woman was rushed to with leg injuries. Her border terrier also required extensive veterinary assistance.

Police yesterday released an image of a man - seen walking with a dog - who they said they would like to speak to in relation to the incident.
