Ruben Amorim 'patience wearing thin' despite Man Utd's Bryan Mbeumo transfer breakthrough

Bryan Mbeumo will team up with his new Manchester United team-mates in time to head to Chicago next week.

United fly to the States on Tuesday and Mbeumo is expected to join them after the Red Devils finally agreed a deal with Brentford for the forward.

A fee of £65million plus £6m add ons satisfied Brentford with Mbeumo set to be on the plane as United head to America to face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.

United boss Ruben Amorim has been left frustrated by those in charge at the club given how long it took to get the Mbeumo deal done.

While the United hierarchy acted swiftly to confirm the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, over a month has passed since then and no other signings have arrived. United's pursuit of Mbeumo stalled before a deal was finally struck for the 25-year-old.

Although Amorim acknowledges the unwillingness of those in charge at United to repeat the mistakes of the past that led the club towards a financial abyss, the Portuguese head coach knows he needs new signings in place now if he is to have any chance of resurrecting the fallen giants from their lowest point for half a century.

Amorim has continued his uncompromising, hardline stance, exiling five players from training in Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malaica, after all expressed their desire to move.

Yet while all five outcasts - at this point - remain unsold and grounded for the US tour, Amorim's rebuilding plans are compromised, with United needing to sell before they can buy.

As well as Mbeumo, Amorim wants to sign a creative midfielder and a proven goalscorer to lead United's attack, with Rasmus Hojlund clearly not up to the task.

Amorim wanted all of his targets signed before United's pre-season tour, to give them as much time as possible to adapt to his demands and to integrate them fully with their new team-mates and environment.

The boss's patience is understandably wearing thin as he is forced to work with one hand tied behind his back and the new season looming large on the horizon.
