Team USA will snatch the Ryder Cup back from Europe in a nail-biting finale, according to a supercomputer. The prediction model, created by Boyle Sports, crunched the numbers ahead of the biennial contest at Bethpage Black, New York, and put a one-point victory for the Americans at the top of numerous potential scenarios.
The system gives the hosts a 57.1 per cent chance of reclaiming the trophy after their defeat in Rome two years ago. Team Europe, on the other hand, have been given a 35.3 per cent chance of retaining the cup outright and becoming the first team since the 'Miracle of Medinah' in 2012 to win away from home.
Despite being considered the underdogs, a draw would also see them retain the cup. Europe are given a 7.3 per cent chance of tying, meaning that their cumulative probability of keeping the trophy until at least 2027 is 42.9 per cent.
However, golf fans hoping for a close contest will be thrilled to know that the supercomputer predicts a 14.5-13.5 victory for Team USA as the most likely outcome, with a 14.4 per cent chance of that happening.
In line with this main prediction, seven out of the 12 most probable scorelines would result in a victory for the home team. Notably, the second, fourth and sixth-most likely scorelines would see Team USA win by at least five points.

The second-most probable result, according to the model, is an 18.5-9.5 triumph for the USA, which carries a 12.5 per cent likelihood of occurring. A 19-9 home success, meanwhile, is assigned a probability of 5.7 per cent. The opposite scoreline has merely a 2.3 per cent chance of materialising.
While the forecasting system indicates that three of the four most probable results favour the US, a triumph for the visitors cannot be ruled out. The third-most likely final result would see Europe prevail by one, with a 14.5-13.5 away success given a 10.4 per cent chance.
The talking, predictions and friendships will be set aside on Friday as the teams go head to head. Captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald have vowed to put their friendship on hold as they battle it out for glory.

US skipper Bradley and his European counterpart Donald are close mates, having shared considerable time together away from the course over the years. Bradley said "For me, there's not many people I like more in the golf world than Luke Donald.
"I wanted to be the first one to tell Luke that I'm the Ryder Cup captain here, out of respect to him, because we've talked a lot about the Ryder Cup throughout our lives. But we want to go out there and win. We want to put our teams in the best position to go out there and do well.
"I really feel lucky to have Luke on the opposite side. We send each other texts, we joke around, but we know once the competition comes, we want to win."
Donald pledged to share a drink with Bradley on Sunday night, regardless of the outcome. He said: "Keegan is someone that I've rooted for.

"If he did well in a tournament, won a tournament, I would text him. And likewise, I think we definitely have a good, strong friendship and I think there's a mutual respect there.
"It's nice to have a captain – your captain opposite you – someone that you know and respect a lot. I think we're also very, very competitive and that's not going to change this week.
"I think we'll have a drink on Sunday night no matter what the result, but this week is about trying to get our teams to win and we want to win."
