Wolves star gives honest Matheus Cunha admission and shares what Man Utd target is really like

Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen remains hopeful that Matheus Cunha will stay at Molineux this summer, despite strong interest in the Brazilian from . Cunha has enjoyed an excellent season so far, netting 15 goals to help keep in the Premier League.

Although he signed a new contract in February, that deal contains a £62.5million release clause and United are as Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim looks to revamp his squad.

"Amazing player," Strand Larsen told when asked about Cunha. "Hopefully we can keep him for a long time, but you know how it works. A player like him, scoring goals, giving assists, having great games, it's difficult to keep, obviously.

"But he's such an amazing guy off the pitch and then on the pitch. You can all see it. I don't need to tell you anything. He gives passes you can't really see. My goal last weekend [against ], it wouldn't happen if his pass wasn't really, really top.

"So yeah, amazing player and hopefully we can enjoy more of him. But I can imagine there will be a lot of interest, yeah." Strand Larsen's comments come after fellow Wolves star Matt Doherty claimed .

Doherty told : "Sometimes it takes you to move away from a place to find yourself, to realise what you need to do, maybe to get back to a place. Because he should be playing week in, week out for Atletico.

"That's not the case but I'm pretty sure he's going to be playing at the highest level imaginable – , stuff like that – pretty soon. Huge, huge potential."

Cunha has publicly stated that he wants to leave Wolves this summer, telling the Guardian in March that he wants to "take the next step" and "fight for titles". He said: "I had a lot of offers [to leave in January] but I wouldn't feel well if I had done it.

"Some things you can't control but I couldn't leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone. Now, we're close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I've made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential."

And when , Amorim said: "I will not say nothing about Matheus, because if I say I have to say 'yes' or 'no' and not comment on that.

"We have to focus on this season and the way we prepare for next season could change in these games, so it's difficult to predict what can happen in the future."
