The toll in the explosion at the Sigachi Industries' pharma plant in Pashamylaram has rose to 34, a senior police official said on Tuesday, 1 July.
"Several bodies have been found under the debris while removing it. As many as 31 bodies have been extricated from the debris while three died in hospital while undergoing treatment. The last leg of the rescue operation is still going on," district superintendent of police Paritosh Pankaj told PTI.
Chief minister A. Revanth Reddy would visit the accident site on Tuesday morning, health minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha said.
The fatal accident on Monday is suspected to have been caused by a chemical reaction.

The cause of the mishap would be known after examination by the technical experts, health minister Damodara Raja Narasimha, who visited the accident site along with state labour minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy, told reporters.
Venkatswamy said 12 of the 34 injured people were critical and put on ventilator support in the hospitals. The respiratory system of these victims is under stress due to the burn injuries, he said.
The government is hopeful that the remaining 22 people will recover soon, he added.
