Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, is all set to return to the silver screen with a refreshing twist—not in 'Lahore 1947', but in an untitled sweet-natured comedy film where he will surprise fans with a double blast. While his recent release Sitare Zameen Par has crossed the ₹200 crore mark at the box office, earning praise for his powerful comeback, Aamir is now ready to charm audiences in a completely different avatar.
In a recent interview, Aamir revealed that he is doing a cameo role in a light-hearted comedy, reminiscent of the classics once crafted by legends like Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. But what truly makes this project exciting is that he will not only act but also sing two songs for the film. Fans who remember the chartbuster "Aati Kya Khandala" from 1998’s Ghulam will recall Aamir’s playful singing debut. He admits that while that song was sung in jest, it turned out to be a huge hit—and this time, he's more prepared.
Aamir shared that he has been taking professional singing lessons for the last few years from his guru Sucheta Bhattacharya. He said, “Ever since I sang Aati Kya Khandala, I’ve had a deep interest in music. Back then, I did it as a joke. But now I’ve taken it seriously and trained properly.”
The film itself, though still untitled, will be rooted in innocent, slice-of-life comedy—a genre Aamir believes Bollywood has drifted away from. “There are no life-or-death stakes in this story,” he said. “It’s just a film that makes you smile and leaves you feeling good.” He emphasized that this kind of cinema, light-hearted and meaningful, needs to make a comeback.
Interestingly, the songs that Aamir will sing in this film are being composed by Ram Sampath, the music director behind Delhi Belly and Talaash. And while Aamir is excited to lend his voice again, he also emotionally revealed that his day still begins with the voice of Lata Mangeshkar, whom he dearly misses. “Lata Didi always treated me with so much love. I just wish she could hear the songs I’m working on now,” he said.
While fans await more updates on Lahore 1947 with Sunny Deol, Aamir’s announcement about this unique project has stirred excitement. A blend of acting, singing, and nostalgic storytelling—this upcoming film might just become another memorable chapter in Aamir Khan’s storied career.
