Susanna Reid could be forgiven for wanting to lie-in after two decades of fronting breakfast TV, including a full 10 years of Good Morning Britain.

But far from that, the presenter is primed to take on another 10 years on ITV's popular show with her appetite as keen as ever for grilling politicians or joking with studio guests.

Susanna, 53, filled in for years on BBC Breakfast until landing a full-time job before moving sofas to ITV in 2014.

Now she says: "I'll be at GMB until they decide they don't want me anymore. I absolutely love it. Honestly, there is no better job in broadcasting.

"Every day, you turn up at the same time and finish at the same time. But what happens between six and nine o'clock is always different.

"It's so much down to what's going on, the way that you interact with your co-presenter, what the viewers are telling you, what news is breaking, what interviews you do.

"It's so dynamic. You feel like you've had a workout every morning. You can do anything once you've presented Good Morning Britain."

Susanna, a host when GMB first broadcast 10 years ago yesterday, admits that her appearance on the BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing had a lot to do with her moving to ITV.

She said: "Strictly brought me together with Good Morning Britain because I think people do Strictly, and they get on people's radars. I must have popped up on ITV's radar.

"It was getting to the point at the BBC where, how much longer was I going to be able to keep going to Salford? I'd really enjoyed it. BBC Breakfast was firing on all cylinders.

"We'd successfully relaunched the show up there. It just felt like, 'Okay, I could be back in London. I can actually launch a new show, Good Morning Britain, and have a new experience'.

"When someone comes with a new opportunity, especially launching a show and being where my family was, that felt like a good opportunity to make a change. That's what I did.

"It's not so much that it's risky or that it's a gamble, it's that it's exciting and it's a new opportunity."

Piers Morgan joined in 2015 and GMB began to hit the headlines.

Morgan, 59, quit in 2021 amid comments about the Duchess of Sussex.

But Susanna said: "He made me a better broadcaster. He toughened me up.

"I didn't just go on air and spar with the guests, I went on air and sparred with Piers every morning."

• Good Morning Britain airs weekdays, from 6am, on ITV1 and ITVX.
