M1 traffic: Major motorway closed as serious crash sparks huge delays

A huge stretch of one of the UK's busiest motorways was closed in both directions following a serious crash. Footage from motorway cameras on the M1 between J20 (#Lutterworth) and J21 (M69, Leicester) showed huge traffic queues earlier today.

National Highways warned wrote on X: "The #M1 in #Leicestershire is CLOSED in both directions between J20 (#Lutterworth) and J21 (#M69, #Leicester due to a serious collision. All emergency services are attending the scene."
