recorded a video from the opulent Raffles Hotel in Doha after queuing to be formally introduced to the Emir of Qatar and US president Trump had been in the Middle Eastern city this week to sign a defence and aviation deal, just hours after striking another huge arms deal with Saudi Arabia worth $145 billion (£107 billion).

The former Good Morning Britain host wasted no time in mingling with "the most powerful people in Trump's orbit", admitting he was "genuinely fascinated" by the event. However, there was one extraordinarily awkward moment when joined the queue to meet the President - despite spending time with him normally almost every single day. Piers joked: "Elon didn't quite know what he's lining up for. You realise this is the queue to see the president?"

"He said, 'But I see him every day.' I said, 'Yeah, so I'm a bit confused why you're in this queue,'" Piers exclaimed as Elon simply stated he was there "just for fun".

The AI entrepreneur took the opportunity to "ecstatically" show off his humanoid robots, which he claimed most people will own in the next 10 to 15 years time.

He was interested in promoting the way they could be programmed to dance, but Piers had other ideas in mind, asking: "Never mind the dancing, do these things have sex?"

However, the response came back from Elon that an intimate encounter with one of the robots would be "like making love to a slow moving washing machine".

After the banter, they finally arrived at the front of the queue for a "very hilariously awkward moment when he was formally presented to a man he spends most days with".

Meanwhile, Donald Trump was equally bemused to see Piers, whom he first met two decades ago, lining up to see him in the queue. Piers recounted: "He threw his arms back as if to say: 'What the hell are you doing here?'"

However, he did praise: "You're looking good", to which Piers replied: "Thank you, Mr President - so are you!" Piers recalled that during their two minute chat, Trump was "buzzing with excitement" over the "incredibly successful" Middle Eastern trip, which had seen him sign an arms deal with Saudi Arabia worth almost £110 billion.
