Prince William has offered a rare glimpse behind palace walls, lifting the lid on his and Princess Kate's home life with their three children. The hands-on father revealed the royal couple have a "very strict" rule governing technology use at home.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, are parents to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. William opened up about their family routine on Apple TV+'s docuseries The Reluctant Traveler.
The series follows Canadian actor Eugene Levy as he explores destinations and cultures all over the world.
During the episode, the future King revealed that mealtimes in their household are always a family affair. The Prince, who makes an appearance in episode four of the series, is asked by Levy: "Do you all sit down at the dinner table together?"
William replied and was heard saying: "Yep absolutely, yep definitely. So, we sit and chat, it's really important. None of our children have any phones, which we're very strict about."
The Prince also spoke candidly about how he and Kate strive to keep family life as normal as possible, despite their public roles.
"Getting the balance of work and family life right is really important. Because for me, the most important thing in my life is family. I do try and stick to school time tables as best as possible. So, most days we're in and out of school doing pick-ups and drop offs."
Back in 2022, when the family moved from London to Windsor, William and Kate switched their elder children's schooling to Lambrook, which Louis now also attends.
They are preparing to move again to Forest Lodge, just a stone's throw from their current base on the Windsor estate, and see it as their "forever home."
As with their four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage, it is understood they will not have any live-in staff, focusing instead on creating as private and family-centred a home as possible.
Episode four of The Reluctant Traveller With Eugene Levy, called Living the Royal Life in the UK, premieres on Friday, 3rd October on Apple TV+.
