Former captain called out three of the club's young players after the club's latest defeat at Chelsea on Friday. Ahead of their Europa League final with Tottenham in Bilbao next week, courtesy of Marc Cucurella's second-half header.
While beating Spurs would seal qualification and salvage the club's harrowing campaign, a huge overhaul is expected at Old Trafford this summer. Ruben Amorim's have been beaten 18 times in the league this season and lie 16th in the table. Keane, who won the top flight seven times with United as a player, has now singled out the stars he thinks should be sold.
After the Chelsea game, the Irishman took aim at Kobbie Mainoo, , and Rasmus Hojlund, telling Sky Sports: "I wouldn't be hanging my hat on them three to improve Man Utd."
Mainoo only appeared as a late substitute, but his cameo didn't impress Keane, who said: "He comes on tonight. I watched him closely. He's strolling around the place, and some of his passing was sloppy."
Garnacho, who has been linked with a move away, was also introduced after the break, while Hojlund played 90 minutes but was again subdued as the visitors struggled to create notable chances. Neither the Argentine nor the Dane escaped Keane's wrath, with the ex-midfielder stating the club "needs a top-class striker" to compete.
"Garnacho, he's immature," he continued. "He plays in little moments, but he doesn't do enough. Again, you want players for the big club who turn up week in, week out, and he doesn't do that. He's got a bit of talent, he makes good runs and he threatens in behind and on his good day, you think 'I like what I see'. But he's got too many bad days."
Hojlund has just 26 goals in 93 games since his £72million move from Atalanta. Keane did express some sympathy, saying he needed to be deployed as a backup striker behind players he could learn from.
"The fact that he came to the club to be the main man, he's not good enough," he ranted. "He's certainly lacking in confidence and belief, and he's not surrounded by brilliance either."
Regardless, Keane doesn't envisage the issues within the squad being sorted out in the next transfer window, adding: "The problems we've spoken about all season at United are still there, if people think you are going to fix that in one summer... It's not going to happen."
