New Delhi: Jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal and AAP leader Atishi went to Tihar Jail on Monday to meet the Delhi CM. This comes after Tihar jail officials had earlier denied permission for Sunita to meet the AAP chief, the party alleged. However, on Monday, the party stated that Sunita was granted permission to meet him.

In a post on X in Hindi, the party said, "At the behest of the Modi government, the Tihar jail administration cancelled Sunita Kejriwal's meeting with her husband Arvind Kejriwal. The Modi government is crossing all limits of inhumanity.

Following their meeting with the AAP leader, Delhi Minister Atishi said, “He will be out of jail soon. He will definitely fulfil the promise of giving Rs 1,000 per month to the women of Delhi.”

Later, the AAP posted on X, “Even in jail, @ArvindKejriwal ji is not worried about himself but about 2 crore Delhiites. Today, during the entire meeting in the jail, he took information about the studies of the children studying in Delhi Government schools and gave instructions to make arrangements so that there is no shortage of water in Delhi during summers.”

Earlier on Sunday, Sunita Kejriwal held a massive roadshow in West Delhi, to support the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Lok Sabha candidate for this constituency, Mahabal Mishra. Standing through the sunroof of a vehicle, she greeted the voters while being showered with flower petals. Sunita Kejriwal stated that Kejriwal was jailed because he took the initiative to build schools, offer free electricity, and establish Mohalla Clinics.

During the roadshow, she said, “Your chief minister is a sher. Nobody can break him or make him bow down. He is the son of Mother India. As a daughter of Mother India, I appeal to you to vote against dictatorship and save democracy. Please understand the value of your vote.”

The AAP is contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in alliance with the Congress. AAP has fielded candidates in the East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and New Delhi constituencies, while the Congress has nominated candidates in the North East Delhi, North West Delhi, and Chandni Chowk constituencies.

The Delhi CM was arrested on March 21 this year by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor excise policy case. Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody has been extended until May 7.
