Maa Laxmi is worshipped during the auspicious occasion of Diwali every year. It is believed that worshipping her during this festival will bring in good luck, fortune, and good health. The legend associated behind this tradition traces back to the time of Samudra Manthan. According to the legend, God Indra once angered Lakshmi with his pride, causing her to leave the divine world and disappear into the milky ocean. Without Lakshmi's blessings, the world became dark, and the gods were eager to bring her back. After 1,000 years of churning the ocean, Lakshmi finally returned, rising from the waters on a beautiful lotus flower, and brought good fortune back to the world. On Diwali, people worship Maa Lakshmi along with Lord Ganesh. It is believed that praying to them on this day brings blessings of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. Here’s the lyrics of Maa Lakshmi aarti in English.
