Manipur Schools Closed, Holidays Declared for 2 Days Due to Bad Weather

Manipur Government has order all schools and colleges in the state to remain closed till tomorrow, May 7 due to prevailing bad weather conditions. The state is currently witnessing heavy rains and hailstorms. Due to the widespread destruction caused across households and keeping in mind the safety, the schools are closed today and tomorrow.

"All schools and colleges will remain closed on 6th May and 7th May, 2024 due to the prevailing weather conditions in the state.The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the risks posed by the current weather conditions. I urge all to stay updated and remain safe indoors. The state government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives & properties and assist those who have been affected." tweeted Manipur CM.



Heavy rains and hailstorms have lashed the state on Sunday due to which One person was killed and two were injured. The poor weather conditions damaged several households in different parts of the State including Canchipur and Tera in Imphal West district and Thoubal district

Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in four northern states including Manipur for the next 24 hours

CM Biren Singh has asked all the people of the state to remain indoors and not venture out and the state government is taking necessary steps to protect the lives and households and help those who have been affected

Due to heavy rains, many houses and vehicles have been damaged. Strong winds also blew away hutments in many areas.
