Ahead of the blockbuster clash in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Shah Rukh Khan recalled his first memory of Rishabh Pant's horrifying car accident.

The KKR owner and Bollywood legend revealed seeing images of Pant's car post-accident and admitted he feared the worst before any update on Pant's health status came out. Shah Rukh stated that cricketers like Pant are like his own son. The 58-year-old stated that seeing a sportsperson get injured was a double jeopardy and stated that the reverse fixture between KKR and DC in Visakhapatnam was the first time the duo met each other post the incident.

"That was horrifying. I saw that video (of his car). It was horrifying! Because we didn't know then, what was the result of that accident. So, you get the worst feelings. To me, these boys are like my own sons. I have youngsters in my team as well. I hoped he wasn't injured badly. And a sportsman getting injured, it's a double jeopardy. Worse than that, us getting injured. I wish him all the best.

"I hope his knee gets fully recovered soon. In the last game, when I met him, I was telling him don't get up, it must be hurting. I was hugging him and asking are you well? I had not seen him before that, post the accident. I am really happy that he's back, playing well and I hope he keeps on playing well," Shah Rukh told Star Sports.

For those unversed, Pant was out of action for almost 15 months due to the accident and made a comeback during the 2024 IPL. In the early hours of the morning of December 2022, the star Indian wicketkeeper batter's car crashed into a divider, flipped multiple times, and burst into flames on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Pant suffered multiple injuries all across his body, with the most serious on his knee, which needed two surgeries.

The 26-year-old is leading DC in IPL 2024 and is in line for a India comeback during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
