PUNE: Citizens in the state can now register property documents at any sub-registrar office within their district, regardless of where the property is located. This is part of the state’s One State, One Registration initiative, aimed at making property registration more convenient and accessible, stated state property registration officials on Thursday. The system was launched across the state on May 1.
Earlier, people had to visit the sub-registrar office that had jurisdiction over the property's location. Now, with this new facility, such restrictions within districts have been removed.
After successful implementation in Mumbai the system has now been extended to all 519 sub-registrar offices across the state, added officials
The program began as a pilot in Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban, covering 42 offices. It is now expanded to whole state. Officials confirmed that the full rollout now allows intra-district registration in all parts of Maharashtra.
A person living in a city can now register a rural property at the city’s sub-registrar office or vice versa, a senior registration department official explained.
Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps Ravindra Binwade said, “Under the One District, One Registration system, citizens can register properties at any sub-registrar office in the district where the property is located.”
The department is also preparing to launch inter-district registration, which will let people register properties located in one district at offices in another district. “We are currently solving some technical issues and expect to introduce this feature in the coming months,” an official added.
Alongside this move, the Faceless Deed Registration System for tenant registration system—first launched in Pune Rural on February 17 this year for Tenancy Agreement 2.0—has now been expanded to Mumbai City and Suburban districts.
There was also launch of the new system Isarita 2.0.This system now supports registration of two document types: General Power of Attorney and Adoption Deeds in Faceless manner. These can be registered online without visiting any office.
“This digital option helps citizens save time and avoids long queues at registration offices,” Binwade added.
DIG (IT) Abhay Mohite added that the department has set up helplines to help people use the new systems. He said that the changes will speed up property transactions and improve public service across the state. He further added that more document types will be added to the faceless system in the coming months as part of state's ongoing push toward digital governance .
