Amal, 49, was born Amal Alamuddin on 3 February 1978 in Beirut, Lebanon. At 2, her family migrated to the United Kingdom where she attended Dr Challoner's High School. She moved on to study at St Hugh's College, Oxford from where she graduated with a BA degree in Jurisprudence. Next, she enrolled at the New York University School of Law to complete her LLM degree. She completed the bar in New York in 2002 and has been a practising barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in London.
She got engaged and married to actor George Clooney in 2014 after dating for a year. She shares two children with George, Ella and Alexander.
