Never have the New Jersey Devils been tested as much in their resilience through the playoffs as during the 2025 NHL playoffs, because a few injuries throughout the series opened their defensive line. The right-shot defenseman Pesce played with tremendous effort and consistency. During the five playoff games he participated in, he logged ice time over the 22-minute mark. His peaks were Games 3 and 5 at just over 32 minutes, a remarkable achievement for an injured player under postseason pressure. Besides exerting himself, he mustered three assists and a plus-4 rating, which calmed a team shaken by injuries.




His best game was Game 5, where he assisted on two goals to keep the Devils competitive. His defensive play and puck movement never wavered, both of which demonstrate not only skill but also mental toughness. Brett Pesce signed a six-year, $33 million contract with the Devils ahead of the 2024-25 season. He played 72 games during the regular season, tallying 17 points (3 goals and 14 assists) and registering an impressive 138 blocked shots, evidence of his commitment to defense.
