Apple has announced the appointment of long-time insider Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Khan and Indian-origin executive will take over the role previously held by Jeff Williams,as part of a long-planned succession. Khan has been at Apple for 30 years and joined the executive team as senior vice president of Operations in 2019. Khan presently serves as the senior vice president of operations and will formerly assume the role of the COO later this month. Khan has been in charge of Apple’s global supply chain for the past six years, ensuring product quality and overseeing planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and product fulfillment functions, as well as Apple’s supplier responsibility programs that protect and educate workers at production facilities around the world. The team also supports Apple’s environmental initiatives by partnering with suppliers to propel green manufacturing, helping conserve resources and protect the planet.

While overseeing Apple’s supply chain, he has helped pioneer new technologies in advanced manufacturing, overseen the expansion of Apple’s manufacturing footprint in the United States, and helped ensure that Apple can be nimble in response to global challenges,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
“He has advanced our ambitious efforts in environmental sustainability, helping reduce Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60 percent. Above all, Sabih leads with his heart and his values, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer,” added Cook.
Sabih Khan’s education qualifications
Before joining Apple’s procurement group in 1995, Khan worked as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader at GE Plastics. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
